News reporter or police what would you choose for a future career? I have been offered my first job since leaving uni as a reporter on my local paper. The £14,800 starting wage appears rather low, but I have always wanted to do it and I am fully trained. However, I have spent a while researching a career in the police and after a few ride-alongs and open days, it seems a great option. I can also start on 21k a year. Although I worry that I am 'selling out' and could be highly successful in journalism. Is such a big gap in pay such a big deal?
how to distinuish police and criminals in group photographs in news papers? i am often confused when group phto graphs appear in news papers ---with title police caught criminals. they are dressed alike , look alike and pose alike. It is diffucult to distinguish who has caught whom why should not the news papers carry the separate photographs for being clearly discernible i agree police are on the right side of criminals for photo sessions it appears they are not hand cuffed the arrests and encounter ( genuine) take place when there is dispute on sharing the bounty of the booty and it is settled by force !!!!
News on Maddy- portuguese police looking for two men and a women? Hello all. Just been on the BBC News website, and its says that they are examing 4 new leads made by crimestoppers, and that according to local news in portugal, the police are looking for two men and a woman who were seen at a petrol station in a car with a british number plate. There has been little coverage on the nes about all this, and i didnt hear anything about two men and a woman. Does anybody know about this and where the investigation is going at the moment? OMG no way, why isnt this being covered. Im so sick of the police concealing details. Its looking like a staged abduction plan to me. If the person is british, then yes, there is a possibility to check listings of peadophiles in the UK, and to get UK police out there and nail this once and for all. ok, the egg head thing is completely ridiculous, but this thing about the police station sighting is quite important. As i have said many times, i really dont think she the type of kid to get up and wander off. Who would know the kids were alone in the first place. Even the Uk expert that has worked on the Milly Dowler case, said it seemed to him like they were spying on the family, looking for patterns and routine.
according to Sky News ...Portuguese Police have confiscated 150 Laptops from known Pedophiles ? According to Sky News, the Portuguese Police have confiscated 150 Laptops of known Pedophiles and are sifting through hours of pornographic images...in the hope it will help in the search for Maddie! Do you think the focus will now change yet again from the McCanns, to the original abduction theory....or are YOU still convinced that the McCann's know more than they are saying ?
News media blaming college officials and police for shootings? This is a real shocker, the news media is blaming the police and school officials for not locking down a 2600 acre college campus with over 26,000 students. Maybe instead of calling 911 somebody should have called Nancy Grace and this whole thing could have been avoided. She would have locked down the campus leaving the gunman with nowhere to hide. I know the news media is nothing but a bunch of monday morning quarterbacks but this is even low for them. Maybe they should be a little more responsible in their reporting. All day long it's been referred to as a new record or the largest shooting spree in history. You know some loser at home watching is planning a way to break the record.
How does a police traffic stop become a news story? I just read the story about the NFL player missing his mother-in-law's death because of that stupid cop, and I watched the video of it, and it made me wonder..I know his story became famous because he's, well, he's a famous NFL player ha but what if this happened to a normal person? I've seen other news stories where normal people are mistreated..how does the news get a hold of them? Do the people call the news place and explain or what? Ok, no one here is helping at all
Hmmm Kate McCann allegedly called Sky News prior to calling the police the night her daughter disappeared? Why would anyone do such a thing... very, very odd!! http://forums.mirror.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=12398 "PHONE CALL TO SKY NEWS It's circumstantial evidence, but PJ believes it's significant. Kate called Sky News first, and only after that did she inform GNR about the disappearance". Portuguese link tp this story - 4th PARAGRAPH DOWN!!: http://www.correiomanha.pt/noticia.asp?id=257082&idCanal=181 "SUSPEITAS NO COMPORTAMENTO Na noite de 3 de Maio Kate ligou primeiro para a televisão britânica Sky News e só depois para a polícia. de ajuda" TRANSLATION BELOW: "SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOUR" On the night of 3 May, Kate was bound first for the British television Sky News and only afterwards for the police... OK EVERYONE ALLEGEDLY WAS A WORD THAT I INCLUDED NOT A WORD WHICH WAS INCLUDED IN ANY NEWSPAPERS OR REPORTS.. SO I SHALL SIMPLY TAKE IT BACK NOW... NOT ALLEGEDLY. SHE DID CALL SKY NEWS!!!
What do the police say when they give you bad news? I am writing a story about a murder from the perspective of the murderer, the family of the murdered girl and an ex-girlfriend of the murderer. How would the police inform the family of the murdered girl that she had died?
I was watching a Balto news station about police wearing head cams? The officer using it said it will help him remember things he forgets or didn't see. My ? is how have they been so correct in judges and jury eyes before. They make mistakes just like everyone else but their conviction rate is more 98% Why do theyneed to spend money on cams?
How do I find old S.F. Police News Articles? My husband has two uncles that were on S.F.P.D. I was told that I could look up old newspaper articles about them and their cases. Their names are: Newborn Lozada and Paul Lozada.
Why do news reporters get into trouble with the police? This one reporter in Mt Clemens always show the word "Police" on a police car "BUT" he leaves out the first two letters so it shows "Lice". Does he have that right? A few other reporters do the same thing. The police get so mad.
Question about female police officer on news? ok guys....one more dumb question & think I'm head'n for bed lol. I saw for a split second on the news something about a female cop involved in having her gun or something taken away....thats all I got from it. Can somebody fill me in? Oh wow CG! I wonder if she lived? (kinda doubt it being that kind of wound & close range). I wonder how she did that with cuffs on, unless she wasn't wearing them or slipped them from behind her back or something.
Why do people believe everything they read in the paper or see on the news as the 100% truth regarding police? I refer to the paper selling technique of reporting only the bare minimum of facts dressed up with reams of innuendo, conjecture and biased prose. The press loves to judge and incite when they perceive police wrong doing but later when the officers are cleared of wrong doing the article is buried in the back pages. Then Johny Q reads the story and comes to an opinion on the matter and then comes on here to rant it out. However the opinion is third hand tainted and often written with dramatic flair and journalistic licence.
Why do police officers get off lightly in the news? Yeah! The police officer who ran over a student (killing him) and fled the scene got off very lightly. I know a pretty bad situation in which the police acted appallingly. Nothing got done and when the press were contacted, no one wanted to know.
Does anyone take LSD anymore? Police news story.? I saw a thing on the news, police bringing drugs to schools to show the kids what they're like - and one of the bags said LSD - and I was like... ??? I thought it was all about the crunk juice, heroin/robitussin, weird sedative type stuff like that nowadays - I happen to look back on my experimentation with the LSD with nary a regret! MUA HA HA!
The police came to mine today with good news? My car that was stolen has been found!!! Will wonders never cease lol? It was however minus quite a few parts and when i went to look at it i still think it's going to be wrote off. What was this news about a recent terrorist attack foiled by police in the uk ? i saw a headline in a cheapy paper a few days back which mentioned two famous football grounds, Anfield and Old Trafford as being targets -i was shocked. but what were the detailsregarding this attack ? btw massive respect and praise to the heroes of our society -the anti terrorist branch, they certainly are doing their best to keep us safe from those scum terrorists.
Did Kate call Sky News before calling the police? I have heard this rumour. Does anyone have a link or evidence to say if this is true or not? It would be a bizarre thing if it is true. Oohbetty (lol @ name) I find it hard to believe too, which is why I wondered if there was any official confirmation on it, or how the rumour started.
How do the police feel when they make a huge mistake like this and get lambasted in the news over this? ATLANTA - City court workers in an Atlanta suburb will undergo sensitivity training and post courtroom dress code signs after police arrested a Muslim woman for refusing to remove her headscarf before attending a hearing. A judge ordered Lisa Valentine, 40, to serve 10 days in jail for contempt of court after the Dec. 16 incident. She was released in less than a day after it was learned Ms Valentine was wrongly arrested by the police.

This is a real shocker, the news media is blaming the police and school officials for not locking down a 2600 acre college campus with over 26,000 students. All day long it's been referred to as a new record or the largest shooting spree in history. You know some loser at home watching is planning a way to break the record. To Juniper - Sure they are asking the same questions because the media is feeding it to them. How does locking down a campus when you have no idea where the shooter is help you. What if he would have been locked down inside one of the buildings and then started shooting. Then they would be blaming the cops and school officials for locking down kids with a crazed gunman.
News articles involving police attacking people for no reason? I just came up with an idea for an assignment, but i need an article that is about police attacking someone/ a group of people for no reason or for a stupid reason. it would be greatly appreciated if you could help me find one thanks :):) i know that police do not attack people for no reason, that is the whole point of my assignment. It is to show that the media may only get one side of the story, i am trying to show that police always have a reason. sorry for the confusion :S
How can I tell news media about a crime of being drugged in workplace then fired for reporting it to police? A coworker put herion in her coffee which put her on life support for 2 days. When she returned to work the following week she was discharged for her family calling the police. And just for a hint; the company swears to having the "best always fresh coffee". All the family wanted was criminal justice and the company says her life is worth $15,000 in damages. It goes to court next week and it would be nice for the media to be aware of it.
